Czech Republic Travel Guide & Archives
This Czech Republic travel guide will show you how it is known to travelers for many things: romantic, medieval Prague, red rooftops and tasty trdelník, Bohemian villages, and for being the country that consumes the most beer per capita–aka–my kinda people.
Prague is by far the most populous and the most popular city in the Czech Republic. Not far from Prague you also have Ostrava, Kutná Hora (known for its famous “bone church“), Brno, Plzen (the birthplace of pilsner), Karlovy Vary, and Cesky Krumlov.

The Czech Republic uses Czech koruna (Check out xe.com for the most up-to-date currency conversion–they have a mobile app too!)
The Czech Republic is in the time zone GMT+1. This means the entire country of Czechia is six hours ahead of the Eastern time zone.
If you’re planning to spend less than 90 days in the Czech Republic/the Schengen area, you can get by using just your U.S. passport–no Visa required. (Except for all those pilsners you’re planning on buying, ba-dum-tshh!)
However, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you leave the Schengen area.
In the Czech Republic they speak Czech. And it’s a doozy.
Regardless of where in the Czech Republic you’ll be visiting, there will be hotels and hostels ready and willing to put you up.

After you decide where in the Czech Republic you want to visit, I recommend reading hotel reviews on Tripadvisor, then booking your room through Booking.com (my favorite booking site).
And don’t forget, there’s always vacation rentals. Check out vacation rentals in the Czech Republic here!

For your trip to the Czech Republic, you’ll want to pack the following:
– Prague guidebook: I prefer Rough Guides and Fodor’s, but you can also find one from Rick Steves. I also really like these culture-centered guidebooks from Culture Smart!.
– Travel insurance. Unfortunately, things can and do go wrong when you travel. World Nomads offers coverage for more than 150 activities as well as emergency medical, lost luggage, trip cancellation and more.
Below you’ll find all the articles on the Czech Republic that I’ve written so far. But there’s more to come!
