Italy Travel Guide & Archives
This Italy travel guide covers one of the most popular travel destinations in the entire world. It’s the land of pizza and pasta, the Colosseum, wine, and stunning landscapes. It’s sexy accents, Renaissance history, grand cathedrals, and everything sugar-coated and creme-filled in between.
Italy is one of the most recognizable countries in all of Europe and is full of amazing travel destinations for just about every single traveler. There’s so much more to Italy than Rome!
This page may contain affiliate links and I’ll earn a percentage of the sale if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. As always, all opinions are my own & I’ll never promote something I don’t personally use or believe in.
Euros are used in Italy. (Check out xe.com for the most up-to-date currency conversion–they have a mobile app too!)
If you’re planning to spend less than 90 days in Italy/the Schengen area, you can get by using just your U.S. passport–no Visa required. (Except for all those pizzas you’re planning on buying, ba-dum-tshh!)
However, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you leave the Schengen area.
The official language of Italy is Love Italian.
Regardless of where in Italy you’ll be visiting, there will be hotels, hostels, B&Bs, and Alpine chalets ready and willing to put you up.
When you decide where in Italy you want to visit, I recommend reading hotel reviews on Tripadvisor, then booking your room through Booking.com (my favorite booking site).
And don’t forget, there’s always vacation rentals. Check out some of Italy’s beautiful vacation rentals here!
Rome: Trevi Palace Hotel
Tivoli: Villa d’Este B&B
Florence: Hotel Aurora
Montepulciano: Albergo Duomo
Cassino: Hotel Piazza Marconi
Turin: NH Torino Santo Stefano
Salerno: Salerno Antica B&B
Aosta: Hotel Duca d’Aosta
Sorrento: Grand Hotel Riviera
Courmayeur: Hotel Crampon
For your trip to Italy, you’ll want to pack the following:
– Italy guidebook: I prefer Rough Guides and Fodor’s, but you can also find one from Rick Steves and Lonely Planet. Also check out this culture-centric guidebook by Culture Smart!
– Travel insurance. Unfortunately, things can and do go wrong when you travel. World Nomads offers coverage for more than 150 activities as well as emergency medical, lost luggage, trip cancellation and more.
Below you’ll find my posts that focus on the awesome country of Italy — all the way from beautiful day trips, helpful tips for planning quick trips, museums, cathedrals, hiking, and so much more.
Thanks for Visiting!
